Tom Edwards Thimbles
Materials: Sterling Silver (stock) or 18K gold (special order, one
month wait time)
The closed top thimbles are for a regular/medium hand, about a 4.5
to 5.5 US ring size at the base of the cuticle.
Open topped thimbles come in extra small, (about a 3.5 ring size); a
small (about a 4.25), medium (5.5), and large (6.0) The adjustable
ones are similar fitting, but can be enlarged by using a pry tool
covered with masking tape. Additionally, they can be slightly
tightened, about a quarter of a size.
The open back and open based thimble is what I refer to as an "appliquer's"
thimble because it is light and not intended for heavy pushing. That
thimble is something you simply put on your finger and squeeze it
until it fits.
The cone thimble with the series of dimples in a bar form can be
slightly adjusted; however the silver is fairly thick and you may
want to attempt to only open up one end a little to allow for it to
slip down on the finger better.
Tom Edwards has a replacement or repair policy on his thimbles.
Please advise me and I can forward the thimble to him for repair or
replacement. The drop rimmed open thimble is the most popular in
