TJ's Quick Quilter
This is the only type of quilting spoon I have ever seen that works.
Jinny Beyer uses one; look at her book on hand piecing for a really
good photo of it. It is made so you can feel even the slightest hit
of the needle onto the spoon ridge. The ridge at the end of the flat
topped spoon is there to catch and deflect the needle. It's the
ridge that makes the spoon style work, so don't think you can
achieve the same results by digging into the silverware drawer. It's
not the same thing at all. The TJ Quick Quilter is not a product
made by the same company as the TJ thimbles.
